Этот блог создан как место для диско музыки. Моему поколению хотел бы дать возможность вспомнить времена когда жизнь казалась проще и интересней, а для людей более молодых возможность открыть для себя что-то новое.

HOT R.S.
HOT R.S.
HOT R.S. stands for House Of The Rising Sun.
It was the name of a faceless disco-rock studio band from Johannesburg, South-Africa. Their first album released in 1977 featured a 14 minutes plus disco-rock reworking of the classic House of The Rising Sun, made famous by the Animals (1964). Their second album 'Forbidden Fruit' had as it's centrepiece a cover of Iron Butterfly's 1968 classic 'In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida' cleverly combined with Frankie Vaughan's 1957 hit 'Garden Of Eden'.
Some famous musicians are rumoured to have played on these 3 albums released by HOT R.S. between 1977 and 1980. They include Trevor Rabin (later YES member), Robert John "Mutt" Lange, René Veldsman, Duncan Mackay and Cedric Samson and of course anchor members Dan Hill and Kevin Kruger.

Ganymed
Profile:
Ganymed was an Austrian space disco band founded in 1977.
In 1978, they released their biggest hit, “It Takes Me Higher”, which hit #5 on the Austrian charts for four weeks and also hit #23 on the German charts. That same year, they released their debut album “Takes You Higher”, which ranked at #16 for 12 weeks and also spawned another single, “Saturn”.
1979 would see the release of their second album, “Future World”. The album’s title track was released as a B-side to “Dancing in a Disco”. Afterwards, they released their final album, “Dimension No. 3”, plus a non-album single, “Money Is Addiction (Of This Crazy World)” in 1980. At their last concert in 1981, Falco played bass for the group. Ganymed officially broke up in 1983.

Casablanca Records Story is unquestionably an absolute MUST HAVE since this four (4) CD box set contains mostly extended original version of classic Casablanca songs. The only gripe here is the use of a single edit on some Costandinos tracks. Contains a beautiful 47 page booklet with tons of photos. Audio quality is wonderful as the tracks are taken from the original master tapes

Sylvester
Sylvester
Sylvester James (September 6, 1944 in Los Angeles, California – December 16, 1988 in San Francisco, California) was an American disco and soul musician, and a gay drag performer. Known for singing in falsetto (despite a rich baritone voice), he is also considered one of the first Hi-NRG artists. His grandmother was the jazz singer Julia Morgan. He performed under his first name only, Sylvester.
Living in San Francisco in the 1960s, he performed in a musical production called Women of the Blues, then joined a short-lived group of transvestite performance artists called The Cockettes in the early 70's (famed transvestite Divine was a member of the group as well). Sylvester can be seen in the Cockettes' outrageous short film Tricia's Wedding, lampooning the wedding of President Nixon's daughter Tricia, and in an eponymous 2002 documentary about the group.
In 1972, Sylvester supplied two cuts to Lights Out San Francisco, an album complied by the KSAN radio station and released on the Blue Thumb label. In 1973, Sylvester & his Hot Band released two rock-oriented albums on Blue Thumb (their self-titled debut was also known as "Scratch My Flower," due to a gardenia-shaped scratch-and-sniff sticker adhered to the cover). Signed a solo act to Fantasy Records in 1977, and working with the production talents of legendary Motown producer Harvey Fuqua. Sylvester later alleged that Fuqua cheated him out of millions of dollars.
Sylvester soon met his frequent collaborator Patrick Cowley. Cowley's synthesizer and Sylvester's voice proved to be a magical combination, and pushed Sylvester's sound in an increasingly dance-oriented direction; his second solo album - Step II (1978) - unleashed two disco classics: "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)," and "Dance (Disco Heat)." By this time both his live shows and recordings also recognizably featured the back-up vocals of Two Tons O' Fun: future Weather Girls Martha Wash and Izora Rhodes. 1979 brought three Billboard awards and an appearance in the movie, The Rose, starring Bette Midler.
Moving to Megatone Records in 1982, Sylvester quickly landed a Hi-NRG classic with "Do You Wanna Funk." He was close friends with other Megatone artists Linda Imperial and Jeanie Tracy. Sylvester was also very close to the legendary Patti LaBelle.
Later pressure from the label to "butch up" his image would result in him attending meetings in full-on drag. A drag photo shoot, which he staged and presented to label heads as a gag (calling it his "new album cover") would later grace the cover of Immortal after Sylvester died; it was the label's way of paying tribute to his spirit. In 1985, one of his dreams came true as he was summoned to sing back-up for Aretha Franklin on her Who's Zoomin' Who comeback album. His sole Warner Bros. album was Mutual Attraction in 1986; a single from the album, "Someone Like You," featured original cover art by Keith Haring.
Sylvester died of complications from AIDS on December 16, 1988. His good friend Jeanie Tracy took care of Sylvester during his last days.
In the late 1990's, performance artist Djola Branner (co-founder of the highly influential Pomo Afro Homos troupe) created his acclaimed solo piece and CD Mighty Real around the life of Sylvester.
On September 20, 2004 Sylvester's anthem record, You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real), was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame. A year later, on September 19, 2005, Sylvester himself was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame for his achievement as an artist.
In 2005, a biography written by Joshua Gamson and titled The Fabulous Sylvester: The Legend, The music, The 70s in San Francisco was published.

Disco queen Sylvester delivers 20 of her best on GREATEST HITS including "Body Strong" and "One Night Only."
With several outdated Sylvester collections on the market, this hard to find Canadian import is by far head and shoulders above the rest. For example, 1989's Original Hits unbelievably left off "Do You Wanna Funk," one of his signature hits, and other collections, such as 12 by 12, leave off "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)." Therefore, this Canadian collection stands as the definitive Sylvester hits package, containing the full-length versions of his dancefloor classics. Greatest Hits includes his three American Top 40 hits, including the aforementioned pair and an 11-minute version of "I (Who Have Nothing)," as well as his U.K. hits, which include "Stars" and "Band of Gold." Additionally, the collection boasts excellent audio quality and live tracks such as "You Are My Friend," but unfortunately lacks detailed liner notes and photographs, which would have been interesting, especially considering Sylvester's colorful, inspirational, and ultimately short-lived life. So, for those wanting a comprehensive collection of Sylvester's music and an excellent testament to the bygone era of disco music, this rare double album is the way to go. ~ Jose F. Promis
Fantastic 20 song collection of the best of the late disco star, showcasing all her glorious moments. Includes all the greats like "Dance Disco Heat", "Do You Wanna Funk", "Be With You", "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)", "Take Me To Heaven", plus the original 12" mix of "Menergy", a long sought collector's item. Rupaul may come close, but Sylvester was and will forever be the Queen Of Disco.
Personnel: Sylvester (vocals, keyboards).
Audio Remixers: Joseph Watt; David Diebold; Leo Frappier.
