Never Trust a Pretty Face

Although Sweet Revenge (1978) was Amanda's biggest selling album, I personally think her third album Never Trust A Pretty Face was way better and rivalling her first album as her very best. The single "Fashion Pack (Studio 54)" is a fabulous disco track, as usual accompanied by clever lyrics. "Forget It" is an amusing song about dumping a dull boy friend who a.o. "doesn't like art and doesn't like gays". And it's all camp on her wonderful disco interpretation of "Lili Marleen". The title track is hilarious German schlager, complete with a deep male choir. "The Sphinx" was the first single, released some months before the album, and has very beautiful lyrics. "Black Holes" takes you into outer space, "Intellectually" is a great disco track with Amanda's usual tongue-n-cheek lyrics. "Miroir" in French deals with narcissism (a favourite subject for Amanda) - an English version can be found only on the UK picture disc release. The romantic "Dreamer (South Pacific)" closes one of Amanda's very best albums.

The album has not been officially released on CD, look out for the Russian "Never Trust A Pretty Face" / "Diamonds For Breakfast" CD which apart from an outstanding sound reproduction offers the full original artwork.
